Ecolibrium® Bio-Based Wall Base


Walnut and oyster shells.  They're two of the bio-based materials in Ecolibrium®, our new wall base made from naturally renewable ingredients. Thanks to an innovative, patent-pending formulation, Ecolibrium is phthalate- and PVC-Free.  It's our most sustainable wall base yet. And, it's one more way our products help you balance your flooring and accessories choices.

What is the definition of rapidly renewable?
The USBGC (LEED V2.2) defines rapidly renewable as “made from plants that are typically harvested within a 10-year cycle or shorter.”
What are the rapidly renewable materials used in ecolibrium bio-based wall base?
Ecolibrium contains a combination of walnut shells, pine rosin and vegetable oil – all of which are considered rapidly renewable materials, by the USGBC definition.
Does Ecolibrium hold up as well as traditional wall base? Yes, Ecolibrium meets all the performance requirements of ASTM F1861, Standard Specification for Resilient Wall Base.
What kind of fillers are used?
100 percent natural – walnut and oyster shells.
What about nut allergies?
There are no concerns about allergic reactions due to nut allergies. Research has shown that the allergens in nuts reside in the meat of the nut, rather than the shell. The shells are processed to remove any residual nut material. Walnut shells have been used in cosmetics for many years with no issues.
