Valley View Hospital's Calaway-Young Cancer Center

For this project, the designers from HFR Design used Johnsonite 4-inch rubber wall base throughout the project as well as 4.5-inch Millwork Diplomat rubber base, which are the hospital’s standard wall bases. In the public areas the design team wanted to do something a little different. “The walls in the public areas had wood chair rails and Johnsonite had just come out with the Millwork Masquerade,” Alecia Bandstra, Registered Interior Designer, NCIDQ, HFR Design, said. “The ability to customize a rubber base to match the chair rail was the perfect solution.”

“We’ve always been happy with the performance of the Johnsonite bases and we needed to match the existing hospital to some degree. So Millwork Masquerade was chosen to contribute to the wood-trimmed lodge feel of the space. We are very happy with the way it turned out,” Bandstra said.
