UCLA
UCLA was founded in 1919 as a public, coeducational, research university. Their current enrollment totals nearly 40,000 students.
With classrooms and lecture halls in use from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and as many as 600 students using a single classroom in any given day, UCLA was looking for a flooring that would pay for itself by reducing maintenance and increasing productivity.
"Johnsonite's rubber flooring is easy to maintain which is a big part of UCLA's value equation," said Carol Conrad, Office of AVC General Services at UCLA. "I see Johnsonite flooring as an investment in productivity versus carpet, which is a short-term and short-sighted solution. Higher education is a highly competitive business and investing in elements that can make people safer and more comfortable pays dividends."
